When you guys talk about taxing people for staying in NPC corps for 3 months, 6 months, whatever, there is something you are forgetting here:

When you joined Eve, and moved into lowsec/0.0 after a week or a month (some relatively fast amount of time), you had friends waiting for you, right? An already existing network of friends/corps/isk, etc., where you were given a ship, isk, whatever you needed to get started right?

I remember way back when I started Eve, my buddy gave me 10 mil just to get started, buying my level 1 and 2 ships, whatever books I needed, etc. and it still wasn't exactly easy to wrap my head around everything you need to know.

I can't imagine what it would have been like to start with nothing, no help from anyone. Think how many people are in this situation, and how long it takes just to get to the point where losing a ship in pvp isn't a big hit on the wallet.

Try to think of it from their point of view sometimes.
3 months, 6 months, isn't a very long time if you have to provide everything for yourself. How will you take this into account when you are deciding how long they can be in highsec until your penalties start kicking in?

When I first started playing eve about 7 months ago or so, I didn't know anybody in the game at all. Not a single soul. I started talking, asking questions, joking around in local and newb corp chat and it wasn't long before I was friendly with several people. A couple people were nice enough to send me a bit of isk. Never asked them too, but they did so out of the kindness of their hearts and an evil desire to see me addicted to this game like they were!

I plan to pay a merc corp to bring me their corpses for that!
I left the NPC corp after about 2 weeks or so and into one of my new friends corps. Due to some problems in life that reared up suddenly (ex g/f's can be such a pita) I shut eve down for about a month or so. Came back and decided I wanted to start fresh.

Made this character. Made my own corp after a week of mission running to get the isk for the corp startup charge (and skills) and have been having fun since.

There really is NO excuse for someone to stay in a newb corp for more than 3 months. Slow learners maybe 6 months, other than using it as an exploit to reduce the likelyhood of your getting blown up by other players in a corp war. At least, that is my personal opinion on it.

This is my view only. Others see the game differently and as they do pay to play that is their right. I'm enjoying being in a player corp.
